Triumph Repair: 1976 Spitfire Locks, rubber coating, metal key

Question
I had the misfortune of misplacing my keys to the Spitfire.  There was a bare metal key with a lobe shape for the door and trunk and a square type with rubber coating for the ignition.  Is it possible to have a new set of keys made or do I have to replace all the locks.  I looked in some of the popular venders and they seem to offer a lock set minus the ignition lock.  I would really prefer to have keys made and not have to remove and replace each lock.  I called a few locksmiths and they said they could not.  Should I continue checking or is it a lost cause?

Answer
Hi Matt,
Some lock smiths can do it but you will probably have to take all of the locks out of the car to have them try as they usually don't want to try to mess with your car as they usually don't like doing anything on a car they don't know. Over the years I have had keys made by taking the locks to them. You have nothing to loose as you have to take them out anyway to put new ones in.
