Triumph Repair: Ignition Tune Up, electronic ignition system, service interval

Hi Howard,

I noticed the shop manual for my TR4A does not specify a service interval to replace the cap, rotor or ignition wires. In your experience, at what mileage should these be renewed?  Or is it "As Required"?

I have a Pertonix ignition so I don't need to worry about points or condenser.

Hi Bob,
There is no mileage life on a cap, rotor or wires. Some people just replace them when they are worried about them.

You are right about not needing to worry about those five dollar points and condenser, You can now worry about the electronic ignition system (not five dollars). Good thinking!
