Triumph Repair: 71 Triumph GT6 - No spark, coil, spark

Question
Have a 71 GT6.  Was running fine - drove it out of garage and the engine shut off like you just turned the key off.  Engine still turns over okay but am not getting any spark. Checked everything, changed coil, points, condensor, still no spark.  Hot wired the coil pos battery to pos side coil no spark.  No spark in distributor.  Any suggestions?
Thanks.
John

Answer
- Check that the condensor wire inside the distributor isn't grounded out

To be honest, if you've checked all those, I'm at a loss.  If the coil has +12, and the points/wires create the path from distributor coil to ground when it closes, it should fire when gnd to the coil is lost.

Use a volt/ohm meter to verify
-your wiring isn't bad, or
-there's no hidden break in a wire
-that the points closing create a path to ground for the coil (opening the points breaks the ground to the coil, and the coil fires)
-that the voltage the coil sees is >+11 volts

Try that, and good luck...
