Triumph Repair: Roll bar/cage Vitesse, proper job, floor pan

Question
I quick question about roll bar/cages for a Triumph Vitesse convertible, as their is no expert on Vitesse thought you may have the best idea. Do you know if their easy to fit. Just bolt on or does it require cutting/welding etc?

Many thanks.

Answer
Chris,

I've never seen the roll bar setups for a Vitesse, so I have to base my experience on what I've seen for the Spitfire and TR6.

The typical Spitfire roll bar is a bolt-in device, requiring you to drill holes in the floor pan, right behind the seats and in the parcel tray behind the seats.

The setups the racers use are typically welded in place and in order to do a proper job tend to require you go cut holes in the body work to accomodate the additional fore-aft bracing.

Cheers,

Jim
