Triumph Repair: 79 Spitfire Diverter vs Air Intake Bleed Valves, pressure relief valve, california emissions

Question
I have a '79 Spitfire with California Emissions Equipment. My Air Intake Bleed Valve disintegrated. Earlier years had a Diverter Valve instead of the Air Intake Bleed Valve. What is the difference?

Answer
The "Diverter" valve serves two functions. It diverts air from the air pump during deceleration to prevent back fires and it has a pressure relief valve in it to relieve excess pressure at high RPM.
I never heard the term "Air Intake Bleed Valve" applied to any emission control item. If you had one and it disintegrated, you will need to tell me where it was on the engine.
