Triumph Repair: Grease Fittings, spitfire mk, grease fittings

Question
QUESTION: I'm looking into greasing my '66 Spitfire Mk.2 and it appears that the grease points have plugs.  The manual instruct's pulling the plug and temporarily inserting a fitting then replacing the plug.  Is there any reason I should not just leave the fittings there for future use ?

ANSWER: I would just leave them in as they have ball valve in each so I can't think of any reason to keep changing them back and forth.

QUESTION: Are there any "clearance" issues that might be of concern where they would get knocked off or something ?  It seems such a minimal item that I didn't think they were left off originally due to cost cutting and "clearance" was all I could come up with ?

Answer
The only ones I ever seen that can be a clearance problem is on a "U" joint if you use the angled or long fittings. You will find out that BLM did a lot of things that didn't make any sense. Which I am sure is a contributing factor to why Triumph went out of business.
