Triumph Repair: electric cooling fan, electric cooling fan, triumph spitfire

Question
Hi Jim, I have just removed the cooling fan on my mk2 triumph spitfire because it also has an electric fan fitted, the electric fan is fitted so it 'pulls' air from the front of the car through the radiator and into the engine compartment, is this ok, it seems to be, also what bhp increase could i expect.  It also quites the electric fan because the air from the mech fan is not pushung against it. Thanks

Answer
Kevin,

I guess the question is... how is the electric fan controlled?  Is it on a thermostat sensor or do you need to flip a switch when you notice the temp going up?  Or is it on all the time.

With the fan off you might see a couple of HP at best... still when you're only working with 65 or so each one counts.  When the fan is on the generator will have to work to keep the voltage up so you lose some of the advantage there.

Cheers,

Jim
