Triumph Repair: weber carb/spit 1500-uphill run problem, lean condition, weber carb

Question
Jim,
Both you and Howard have been very helpful. Thank you.
Problem:
Having chased a lean condition, after much research, I've installed a carter electic fuel pump, ann in-line pressure regulator, and upped the jets by .005 each. The car runs and pulls through the RPM range now better than ever! BUT as soon as I hit an uphill grade, the car wants to stall.
i back off the throttle, it comes to life and I "mosey
on up" the hill. It's driving me crazy. I've read at least three articles that say this is related to the float/bowl location; that the float and bowl must be at the front of the carb. With the kit I bought for the 1500, that is impossible; it can only be installed with the bowl on the passenger side. Could that be my problem or do I need to look elsewhere?
the car sputters and tries to stall

Answer
Brian,

Are you sure the ignition timing is correct?

And you've verified the float level in the Weber?

The last thought is that accelerator pump on the carb may need adjustment.  When you move the throttle on the Weber it pumps a bit more gas into the carb.  If it's too much or too little the car will misbehave.

Cheers,

Jim
