Triumph Repair: 75 Spitfire, differential switch, spitbits

Question
The square O-rings in the pressure differential switch actuator (the witch turns on the break light on the dash)are dry rotted and leaking through the electrical plug.  I cannot find this part anywhere for sale (Moss Motors, British Victoria, etc) What can I do to get this car back on the road with good breaks?

Answer
Thomas,

There are several options.

First off, I did a quick check of vendors and Rimmer Bros in the UK do list the part as available.  So, if it's available uin the UK then a check of some of the other American parts houses that are a bit more Spitfire-centric might find you a new one.

Or if you're willing to take a chance it may be possible to find a good used unit.  There are good classifieds on the Vintage Triumph Register website (www.VTR.org), at worst you can post a "part wanted" ad to see if anyone else has a spare.

And you can check with some of the other US vendors, they sometimes also can supply good used parts.  TSI Imports and Spitbits have been good sources in the past.

Cheers,

Jim
