Tips on Buying Cars: used car purchase, car purchase, good question

Question
Hello. I live in Kentucky and looking to purchase a used car. Not to get into too many details, but about the only way my wife and I can finance one is to go to a buy here pay here lot. There are several buy here pay here lots in my area with decent vehicles, as well as big dealerships now offering this service. My question is what should I look for dealing with these? i know the interest rate is higher, but what else? What questions should I ask? Any info would be appreciated.

Answer
Good question Randy.  I am glad you are thinking like this.  You need to check the terms of the contract, can you pay it off earlier and if you do what are the charges.  You also need to have a mechanic look at the vehicle carefully before you purchase it.  No matter what the terms you are in trouble if the vehicle is not dependable.  Even though you need the buyherepayhere program, do not be defensive with the dealer.  In your own mind you must believe you have the best credit on earth and you are doing the dealer a favor by dealing with him.  Be brave and best of luck to you.  Bud
