Triumph Repair: 1967 Triumph Herald 1200 saloon pinion tail bearing removal, bearing puller, pinion shaft

Question
Hi Jim,

Can you tell me how to remove the pinion tail bearing in the Herald 1200. I have removed the shaft and the pinion oil seal and I am going to replace the seal & the bearing, but can't get the bearing out, what have I to do?!

Thanks ,

Dominick

Answer
Dominick,

In order to do the job properly it's necessary to remove the ring carrier from the differential.  Once the pinion shaft is removed then you can use a bearing puller or a drift from inside the casing to drive out the bearing.

Cheers,

Jim
