Triumph Repair: 1974 Spitfire, e mail address, voltage stabilizer

Question
QUESTION: Greetings from South Dakota:

I have a 74 spitfire, which I am driving and restoring at the same time.  It has become quite the addiction.  Anyway, I am unable to get my fuel and temp gauges to work.  I have already replaced the voltage stabilizer on the back of the speedometer.

Also, I have been unable to get my blinkers or emergency flashers to work.

Can you offer any advice?

Thank you!

Mike
ANSWER: Hi Mike,
As for the two gauges, first check to see that you have power to the voltage stabilizer with the key on. If you do, confirm the power is reaching both gauges. Which should be a light green wire. If you do just ground the other post of each gauge in turn and watch the gauge, they should each deflect their needles. If you don't have power to them don't connect a power source to them as they are not 12 volts, they require the voltage stabilizer to drop the voltage.
You need a wiring diagram to trace all the wires but it looks like you have lost power to the Hazzard switch. Check if you have also lost your back up lights and brake lights also.
If you can't locate a diagram, let me know which series Commission number your car falls into:
FM32409 or under
FM32410 to FM40000
FM40001 to FM60000
FM60001 to FM95000
FM95001 up
And gime me an e-mail address and I will e-mail it to you.
Howard

QUESTION: Mu commission number is 10001U

Answer
With several items not working you need to check your fuses. It is not normal for two gauges and turn shinals and 4 way flashers to all die at the same time. All these items are on one fuse. Turn the key on and test both sides of each fuse with a test light or volt meter, sometimes just a bad connection of a fuse end is at fault with this deaign of fuse box.
Let me know if that is not the problem.

You say you have the Haynes manual, look on page 258 at the diagram and you can see several other items on that fuse.
