Triumph Repair: fuel gauge, fuel gauge, belvin

Question
Need help thank you for all your help.  on the sending unit there is a black wire and a green with black wire.  on the fuel gauge there are two green wires on one connection and a green with balck on the other connection.  is there supposed to be voltage at the sending unit and which wire on the fuel gauge is supposed to be hot i know how to check the gauge & the sending unit just wondering how these wires all come to gether.  thank you so much this is for a 1974 1500 spitfire

Answer
Belvin,

At the gauge the green wire is supplying voltage from the voltage stabilizer (attached behind the speedometer) and the green/black wire is the feed from the sending unit.

At the sending unit the green/black wire is the connection to the gauge and the black wire should be the system ground.

Cheers,
