Triumph Repair: tr 6 differential, rubber bushings, failure point

Question
I get a loud bang when I let out the clutch in the rear end.  I checked all ujoints ok, I pulled the hubs and they are tight and smooth, replaced the rubber bushings that mount the diff. to the frame.  I have not dissambled the diff. any thoughts.

thanks

Answer
John,

When you replaced the rubber bushings did you check the frame to make sure it's not cracked?  That's a common failure point as the cars age.

And did you check all the rubber bushings on the rear trailing arms?

It's either a) something loose in the axle/hub/wheel combination or b) something loose in the suspension or c) excessive free play in the diff/diff mounting.

Cheers,

Jim
