Triumph Repair: tr6 knocking when clutching, cluth, time paul

Hello, My TR6 has recently developed a knocking noise when I press the cluth to shift gears, the noise seems to be coming from the rear of the tranny. It is one knock when I press the pedal and say I am in 3rd gear doing about 30mph, when I take my foot off of the accelerator it is the same noise, one knock around the rear of the tranny or differential. Any idea where I should start my repairs?

Paul, my first guess is it might be the rear transmission mount. the transmission has a pressboard cover that can be removed ( it's a pain you have to take the radio and carpet out ) you can remove it and drive it and just watch what is happening. start there and let me know what you see. Dave
