Triumph Repair: Alternator from generator, e mail address, j c whitney

Question
This isn't a Triumph question, though I have a nice 67 4A, but a Jaguar question. I have a 64 Etype that has a generator. I would like to change to an alternator. Is this as simple as it seems?  I would get the alternator and attaching hardware from a later model E that came with an alternaor and just change it out.

Answer
I like this question because my 67 jag was in pieces when i bought it. it didn't even have the altenator with it. I bought a generic single wire altenator from J C WHITNEY. I think you can get them at most autoparts stores also. mine probably had a altenator already on it. I had to make some mounting pices and convert from the double 'v' belt . anyway it looks like a altenator that was on brobably on any chevy made in the 70's. it has one wire that hooks right up to the pos post on the battery and that's it. it has been on there 4 years and still works perfectly. i will do some more research on it and my e-mail address is ( dmillxke@bellsouth .net ) i can send pictures of how i did it if you want.
