Triumph Repair: 1500 Fuel Lines, clutch system, legal disclaimers

Question
Hey Jim
How you get time to work on your own car, with so many
questions being asked, is a wonder! and so is the fuel lines
on the 1500..thanks for the answer to the clutch system,
I'm afraid i didn't get round to tackling that yet, due to
another small issue with the fuel from the tank. I noticed
after running the car, by bypassing the fuel tank via a can
into the pump, once i attached the pump to the fuel lines,
no petrol was coming through?. I checked the lines by
unhooking each line and blowing down the tubes and did
find a small bit of plastic bag (?) in one of the lines, then
checked the others and found them all to be clear. I then
hooked them all back up and fired her up again, but still no
fuel was being sucked up?. so my question is...Why?. if the
lines are clear and the pump is working, what could be the
problem?
Thanks again for taking the time to answer ALL our
questions,it very good of you.
kind regards
Marc
p.s do you have any pictures of your race car on line?

Answer
Marc,

Is there gas in the tank?

Ok, just kidding.  But still, if you disconnect the fuel line from the pump you should get gas gushing all over.  If that's not happening then you still have a blocked line somewhere.  It's possible that the fuel pickup in the tank is blocked... especially if you have "plastic bag" bits floating around in the system.

A friend had someone use a paper shop rag as a "cap" on his car once... he spent years getting all the bits out of the system (it was a daily driver and he had no time to just pull the tank and flush it).

Remember, gasoline is dangerous and hazardous and all those other legal disclaimers.  Don't pull the fuel line inside the garage in case it does leak all over.

Cheers,

Jim
ps.  I don't think there are still pics online of my car.. there used to be from various events I've been in.
