Triumph Repair: different emssion on early 1974 tr6, metal piping, vacuum line

Question
My 1974 TR6 seems to not jive with the pictures of the vaccum lines installed later 1974. Is there an airpump on these earlier engines? If so mine is missing. Yhanks for any advice, Ted

Answer
Ted, I have a Bently TR 250 thru 76 TR 6 manual and the air pump is shown on 1 page and does'nt say what year it goes to. it basically had a air pump with a big hose comming out the back running beside the coil and distributer connecting to a diverter valve the diverter valve had a vacuum line that looks like it connected to the intake manifold somewhere about the rear third of the engine. the big hose from the pump connected to a metal piping tube that bolted into the exaust manifold at each exhaust port. is that pipe still there? or if there are six bolts in place of it ? in other words if your exhaust manifold is smooth with no sign of piping or bolts then i would guess you did'nt have the pump.let me know and i'll try to help with routing the lines.
