Triumph Repair: TR6 Vacuum hose, loose hose, vacuum hose

Question
My 71 TR6 started fine yesterday and did not drive well at all.  The rpm is low and it smelled strong gas.  A closer examination showed that, when the engine is running, one carburator port leading to the air filter on the front carburator is spurting gas like crazy and there is a loose rubber hose.  The manual seems to indicate that the hose is a "vaccum thermal swicth hose" supposedly connected to the read carburator.  Is this loose hose connected to the gas spurting problem?  I also cannot find a port to plug this hose into on the rear carburator.  Thanks for your help and comments.

Answer
hi Jerry, sorry i did'nt get back sooner. i'm almost 100% sure some dirt or a piece of something is sitting right at the needle and seat preventing the float from doing it's job. the hole is there for that. The thermo gizmo went from the distributor vac. advance then to the vac. port on the carb.I'd by-pass all that junk if i was you. maybe some one has, any way you need to take the screws from the bottom of the carbs remove bowls (both) take the floats off. the needles will come off with them. if you want to replace the needle and seats you can now.if not, while the needles are out spray carb cleaner into the port that usually has the fuel line on it. this might clean what ever is in it out. REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER !!! David p.s. if you need more help let me know
