QuestionErratic (cyclic surging)idle on 1300 OHC 8V motor. I'm actually in South Africa, where it is know as an Opel Kadett 1300 5 door, but pictures of Astra mk2- mk4 1985 -1990 or thereabouts looks like the same model. Carb does not seem to have good old idle mixture etc. Distributor is on the end of the cam.
AnswerCheck the water level, make sure theres no air locks.
Check for vacuum leak from manifold or vacuum pipe to distributor.
check condition of distibutor cap and rotor arm.
Check all HT leads are working properly.
I'll have to research a bit for this, what year is your car?
