the gas,temp,speed are not working but the tach, oil, and the alternator are working I do not know where even start with this problem it is in a 1990 jaguar xjs

trace each and every wire and make sure everything is connected properly.
I cant help you since that would entail traipsing through a 30 page schematic wire by wire which would take about 3 years in person and an eternity online, I'd like to help you but there isn't enough time in the world, so get a manual and a multimeter ;-)

Oh, there is a fuse called "gauges", it could have blown!
