QuestionMy son's Fiat Punto engine lost all power when he was driving, it eventually stopped and would not re-start. On getting it home, it does try and start, fires after a while, then immediately dies again. There seems to be an excess of fuel in the throttle body / injector area also leaving the air box wet inside.
Answer1 - what is the mileage.
2 - has the cambelt been changed and when.
How exactly did it lose power, gradually, in "stages", suddenly, erratically... detail is v.important.
I think it could have a slipped cambelt.
What year is the car and what engine, number of valves, (+whats the number on the wing?)
Check the cambelt tension if you can - don't try starting this engine until you know what's wrong, it could self destruct if the belt slips any further.
