UK Car Repair: vauxhall, corsa 1 ltre 12v, t reg, vauxhall corsa, throttle switch

when i accelerate there is a lack of power and the amber engine light comes on, then goes out when not wanting power?

I'm not to familiar with the Corsa engine but the symptoms are fairly typical of all cars, it is most likely a faulty throttle switch.  Before getting one though, check the air intake from the air cleaner to the manifold to make sure there is not an air leak from one of the connectors.  How is it at high speed cruising?
