UK Car Repair: Rover window wont shut, mirrows, electrics

Question
Hi there
Today of all days , it's raining here in Scotland , my drivers window won't shut . I had problems since a few months , but if I pressed a little bit harder it worked fine . Well , not today . A friend looked at it , took the board with the switches out of the door , it's just hanging there now , and then disappeared . At the moment there is no way that I can afford to get it fixed just now . But I am very good with electrics and I'm confident that I can take the inside of the door of .
Please help , I just want to shut the window , not fix it .
The other window and the mirrows are still working .
Sonja

Answer
From what you say it might just be the switch, to by pass it, simply change the switch from a window that works. You can likely unplug the connector from the bad switch then temporary connect it to a good switch.  If is a motor problem often you can tap it gently while operating the switch. Good Luck
