Volkswagen Repair: how to start my 1994 jetta, jetta, push button

Question
how to start my 1994 jetta with no ignition key bought from a drug siezed auction what wires go together

Answer
Lance,
Typically, the solid RED wire is supply power from the battery for all circuits.  The RED/BLACK stripe will kick the starter, so it should be touched to the RED wire only when starting.  The rest of the wires are for the ignition circuits and normally supplied power from the RED wire only when the key is ON, so they should be connected to the RED wire while running the car.  Be aware the RED wire should be disconnected from ALL wires while parked or the battery will be drained dead by the live ignition circuits, even if the car isn't running.  If you cannot replace the ignition switch soon, I recommend getting 2 switches to do these functions, one a simple ON/OFF for the ignition circuit, the other a MOMENTARY contact push button for the starter.
