Volkswagen Repair: Cabrio door lock installation, spring assembly, lock cylinder

Hi- I have a 2001 Cabrio that the previous owner took the door key drum out of the driver's door in an attempt to fix it before he sold it to me. He could not get it back in the door and gave me the whole key drum/cylinder.  How do I get the key drum/cylinder back into the door so we can lock the door? I understand it may not work with the remote but we'd like to be able to lock it manually. Thanks so much.

This may be difficult to visualize, but here goes:
- Remove the door handle
- Insert the key in the lock cylinder (which is not yet installed in the door handle.)
- Apply the seal to the outside of the door handle hole.
- Insert the cylinder into the door handle hole.
- Install the coupling and spring assembly to the rear of the cylinder.
- Hook the connecting rod to the back of the assembly.
- Reinstall the door handle.
