Volkswagen Repair: 2002 Used VW Beetle with Turbo, volkswagen repair, vw passat

Just bought the car used.  Within 1 week, less than 100 miles, the MIL came on.  It was right after the hatch would not release.  After two days, the light went out.  Drove the car for five days, then the light came on again.  There is a breather, I suspect for the turbo, at the top of the hatch.  Could the MIL come on due to a hatch/breather problem.  The second time the light came on I had been storing things in and out of the hatch.  Car runs fine.  Unfortunately, the VW repairshop here in Austin is horrible.  No VW owner likes to do business with them; but they're the only ones that do VW service.

 The MIL light can be caused by literally hundreds of possibilities.  You need to have the car's computer scanned.  If the dealer is not an option, you can do it yourself.  Here's a link describing how:
