Volkswagen Repair: polo 1.9 SDI timing belt marks, fly wheel, tdc mark

Question
i just fitted a timing belt to my 99 polo 1.9 sdi ,1 put the fuel pump lock in
2, put the cam set bar in and on the fly wheel there is a 0 and  a lump about 4mm x 10mm  witch is the tdc mark

Answer
Gedi,
I am not familiar with the 1.9L, however if the engine is in anyway similar to the 1.5/1.6L, the "0" would be the tdc mark.  Also in the earlier engines, there are two positions that the fuel pump can be locked into... you would want to make sure that you are on the correct one (on the engine-side of the drive sprocket you will notice a small notch that should correspond to a mark on the assembly that the pump bolts to).  Hope this helps.  Jerry
