Volkswagen Repair: 99 Passat Engine, blown head gasket, car coolant

1999 Passat 20 V.Turbo We purchased this car about 4 mo, ago there were no problems with the car until last week. The readout dispalyed (Stop The Car, Oil.

I stopped added 3qt and aprked the car. Later that afternoon i was driving and the displayed ( stop the car coolant, upon stoping I notice thick oil stuff overflowing from the coolant overflow.

Has there been a recall concerning this problem ?

Secondly If not what my best option?

Larry, thank you for your question.  The problem you are having sounds like a blown head gasket.  Possibly can be one of the others seals or gaskets in the engine.  In either case, you will need to get the engine overhauled. The cost is usually from $1400 to $ 2200.  I have not seen any recalls, but that does not mean that there are none.
