Volkswagen Repair: ignition coils, good luck man, crank pulley

I know this is a stupid question but if you are looking at the ignitions coils from the front of the car are they labeled 1-4 left to right?

Hey Jon; No question is stupid, except for the one you didn't ask...or something like that.  In a Jetta, GTI, Golf, or Beetle, the coils are numbered 1 through 4 from the crank pulley end of the engine.  So, from the fan belt back they go 1 through 4.  So, from the passenger side of the car toward the driver's side of the car they are numbered 1, through 4.  Hope this is clear enough, Jon.  Good luck, man.
