Volkswagen Repair: 98 vw jetta, mass air flow meter, mass air flow

Question
hey i have a 98 vw jetta and my son replaced the air filter and the fuel filter in it today and now my check engine light is on. He tried diconnecting the battery and it didnt fix it is there another way to reset it after you change those filters?

Answer
To make the air box cover accessible the mass air flow meter has to be at least "unplugged."  Did he get that part reattached all the way?  That'll do it everytime.  It's on the right side of the engine bay, right behind the air filter box, next to the upper strut mount.  Hope this is it.  I've done it too...in a hurry?  Good luck, Carol.
