Volkswagen Repair: tie rod end, rear rotors, vw passat

Question
QUESTION: Hi. I have a vw passat 1.8T 1999. I have just replaced the o/s front tie rod end. The problem is when I break gradually and about to stop I can feel on the brake pedal and hear a shuddering noise. When I take my foot off the brake pedal this stops. This does not happen when I break on high speed, only when the car is about to come to a halt.
I would appreciate any advise.
Thanks.
ANSWER: The rear rotors on these vehicles are very thin. They should be replaced every brake pad replacement. The front and rear rotors do warp and cause a pulsation and sometimes a shudder noise. If you feel it in the brake pedal I would check the Front rotors or replace all rotors and pads when brakes are needed.

QUESTION: Thanks for the advise John.

So you don't think it has anything to do with the newly installed driver side front tie rod end?

Thanks again.

Answer
If the noise or vibration is very repetitious then it is un likely the tie rod end is the cause. If the noise is every once in a while then possibly. The vehicle needs to be lifted off the ground and check for suspension play to narrow down the suspicion of the tie rod end.
