Volkswagen Repair: Wheres the oil drain plus on my 03 passat?, oil drain plug, aluminum pan

I want to change the oil on my 2003 passat (first timer here).  My fiance was attempting to do it however he's not sure where the oil drain plug is.  Searching around it looks like there is a shield over it and it needs to be removed.  Is this correct?

Pull down the plastic shield. V6 passat is on the drivers side bottom of the aluminum pan next to the oil filter. 1.8 Turbo is on the passenger side bottom to the engine on the oil pan. OEM plugs head is a 19mm size and requires a 19mm socket to remove. Oil filter is under the Coolant bottle and the bottle needs to be removed to access. Prior to loosening the filter place a rag over the sub frames hole under the Trans cooler hoses. catch the spilled oil when loosening the filter. Oil will go everywhere. Let me know how it goes.
