Volkswagen Repair: VW GTI wont start, oxnard st, vw gti

Question
I have a 2000 GTI that sat idle for 2 years. It won't start. I have drained the gas tank, checked the spark plugs. I removed the two rubber gas hoses near the engine and sucked them clear of old gas. The engine turns over well but will not start. When I spray starting fluid in the ait intake, the engine starts for a second and then dies. Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer
Are you getting spark? Are you getting fuel to the injector rail? Maybe your fuel pump is bad. Do you have vaccum leaks? Have you run a VAG-COM? to download your fault codes. i am Max's German Car located at 15020 Oxnard st Van Nuys CA 91411. i have a shop here in Los Angeles that specializes in the repair, sales, and sales of parts for water-cooled VWs:1975-2005.
