Volkswagen Repair: Ghia Pan options, volkswagen product, karmann ghia

Question
Don,
I recently acquired a '69 Ghia convertible as a summer project for daughter and myself.  The pan is rusted out in all quads and the damage extends several inches in to the air channels on both sides.  My questions are:  Does a bug pan fit a Karmann Ghia?  Can it be made to fit?  What are the options for replacing -or- repairing the pans?  Do you recommend any sources for parts?

Answer
Kent, Thank you for your question.  The best place to get the parts for pans on ANY air cooled VW is BFY (http://www.bfyobsoleteparts.com/) by phone at 1-800-789-0900, or come by the shop at 1460 N Glassell St., Orange, CA 92867. I just checked and they carry the parts for 60-74 Ghia pan (these are individual pan parts that will need to be welded together.) http://www.bfyobsoleteparts.com/volkswagen/product.php?productid=3158&cat=182&pa...  for the 1956-74 Ghia complete left floor pan
http://www.bfyobsoleteparts.com/volkswagen/product.php?productid=3159&cat=182&pa... for the complete right floor pan
also  another place is  http://www.karmannghia.com by phone 1-800-927-2787
Hope that helps
