Volkswagen Repair: Water leak under dashboard during A/C, speedometer cable, ac ducting

Question
'97 Jetta GLS.  When my A/C is running, it constantly drips water out from underneath the passanger side dash.  Taking turns, I can hear that something inside the dash is FILLED with what sounds like gallons of water.  During turns, water will then pour out rather then drip.

Answer
Justin, thank you for your question.    That definitely sounds like your condensation tube is blocked or kinked. Furthermore, it sounds like the blockage is right at the beginning of the tube inside the AC duct or right after it.  It also can be blocked at the outlet or end of the tube on the outside of the firewall.  Either way you need to use something like a speedometer cable (from like a 60's model Ford) or a plumbing snake.  You should be able to take the tube off from the firewall and check to see if it is clogged.  If it is clear then the blockage is in the firewall and the only way to get rid of it is to remove the ac ducting and unit to expose the nipple for the tube. When you take the tube off and water runs out then the clog is in the tube.  You also will need to have several towels available in case the water starts shooting out of the unit.
Hope that helps
