Volkswagen Repair: volkswagen transmisson, ammco transmissions, transmisson

I do not know if you know this or not but. I have a 1994 volkswagen jeta. Do the transmisson have to be in nuture before it will separate.The transmissom is stuck in 3th gear and I'm trying to get it out. I got all the bolts around it out and the axle keys out but it will not come apart. I have the transmisson out of the car.

Wayne, thank you for your question.  To my knowledge the answer is yes.  everytime i have seen one taken apart they are in neutral. But you may want to contact a local transmission shop and ask them, like Ammco transmissions or the VW dealer, but ask for the most experienced Transmission person there!
