how can i raise up my bug without doing any damage to it? tires are realy butterflied.

John, thank you for your question.  I have never done a "preload" on the front or rear. But what would be easier is to buy "coil over" Shock absorbers. They cost about $60 USD and make sure you hang on to the adjustment tool that comes with them.  The torsion bar has something like 44 splines on one end and 40 splines on the other end, and can be adjusted something like a degree up and down. So if you need to change that, be sure to read the Bentley manual fully before starting any changes like that.  Good Luck.
