Volkswagen Repair: Jetta starter issues, jetta gl, jetta

Question
I ahve a 99 Jetta GL (new body) and have had problems burning up starters. I took it to the dealership and they were unable to figure it out. All of the repairs have been done at V-Dub folks in Irving. They are unable to figure out why the starters are going bad as well. Any ideas?

Keith, Thank you for your question.  Usually water cooled VW's are outside of my area but when dealing with starters everything is even.  the problem can be any of the following: Bad Ground from engine to body, bad battery, poor connection from battery to starter, poorly rebuilt starters (i went through 9 starters in one year on a 77 Nova), ignition switch is failing, or all of these at the same time.
Have you taken it to Autobaun in Fort Worth or Boardwalk Volkswagen in Richardson (on Central Expwy)?
