Volkswagen Repair: water pump, 10mm socket, motor mounts

I am going to replace my water pump and pulley on my 91 Golf GTI 8v. Someone told me I may need to loosen my motor mounts. Can you give me any directions on how to change my water pump, including tools and sizes. Thank you!

It's been so long since I changed a water pump on a VW Golf that I forget what tools you'll need. I'm guessing a 12 or 13 mm for the pulley and probably a 10mm socket for the housing to block bolts. I work on the older VWs, not too much on the cars with antifreeze in them! Sorry that I can't be of much help to you on this! Good luck and have a safe New Year's Eve!
