Volkswagen Repair: door handle, door latch, turning the key

I have a 95 Passat GXL VR6 and I just bought it for a low price but the door handles, are almost ready to rip off the door. Its so bad that I have to open the door form the inside. Any way I bought new handles and would like to know how i go about takeing the old ones off and what i need to put the new ones on. I dont have much time left I go back to Iraq on 18 Nov. and would like to beable to fix it before I go, so its one less thing my wife has to do. Thank you and sorry for the long letter.

Here's how you remove the door handle, but I think you need to remove the latch, free it up and lube it with grease.

Open the door and remove the screw on the inside edge.

Insert the the key into the lock and turn the key to unhook the lock.

Slide the handle to the back, while turning the key back and forth.

Unhook the  end of the tumbler and put the parts on a bench in the order that you took them out, and slide the tumbler out to install into your new handle.

To remove the door latch mechanism...

Take out the two bolts, pull the latch out slightly and insert a small screwdriver into the hole in the bottom to hold the lever out.  Unhook the rod and remove the latch, leaving the screwdriver in for reassembly. Freeup latch and fill latch with grease, and reinstall.
