Volkswagen Repair: day running lights, vw bug, running lights

I have a 2001 VW bug with day time running lights.  How can I circumvent the lights to only come on when I want them on?

I'm not sure. The older VW's have a single yellow wire under the hood with a yellow connector, near the driverside strutmount. Volkswagen tends to keep their wiring the same so check under the hood or near the fusebox for this yellow connector.

I'll inquire and see if this is still the same with your bug.
