Volkswagen Repair: no start, mitchell on demand, noise data

1994 Jetta III 2.0 eng 74,000 miles. Vehicles check engine light will not illuminate with koeo. Are there common problems causing this condition. My Mitchell On Demand does not give good wiring diagrams. Any help would be usefull. Thanks.

I'm not sure, I don't know what to tell you, I need more information.  

Does your engine turn over?
Is your timing belt OK?
Do you have spark?
Is the fuel pump making any noise?
