Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh starter brushes, armature motor, snowblower

Question
what is the easiest way to hold the 4 brushes in place to put back in the armature motor in my snowblower. there is no type of hole or keeper to hold them in place.

Answer
Hello Jim:

>>I have had a Few of these in the Shop and I Usually Drill a Small Hole (just larger than a Paper Clip) for the Paper Clip to be Inserted like the Older Starters. The Starter OEMs Do Not want the Customers Repairing or Servicing the Starters. That is Why the New Starters Do Not have the Holes for Holding the Brushes fo Easier Installation.
>>Insert a New Brush and Push it Back Until it Completely Compresses the Spring and then Mark the Place for the Hole. Carefully Drill the Holes and you should be Good to Go.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
