Volkswagen Repair: 1990 fox, losing coolant, combustion chamber

Question
ok, my car needed a radiator but i drove it until it over heated and now with a new radiator it smokes excessivly after it gets up to running temp,  i checked my oil and it looks ok(no water in it) it seems to be losing coolant but it doesnt leak, and it has good compression?
please give me any suggestion as to whatr you think it could

Answer
Mitch,

You've got a contradiction in your discription. You say that you're losing coolant but it doesn't leak, yet your compression is good.  From what you've discribed you need a headgasket, I don't know of any other way coolant could be getting into the combustion chamber and causing smoke. Is the smoke white?... It has to be.  Check your compression again and do a leakdown test, or pressure test your cooling system with the spark plugs removed and check for liquid in one cylinder. I'm sure you need a new headgasket.

Sorry for the bad news,

Paul
