Volkswagen Repair: throttle repair, intake components, throttle body

Question
We took our 96 Jetta in for what was diagnosed as a throttle problem.  When we got the car back, there was a grinding noise.  The dealer told us that we had a starter and ignition that had gone bad, and their repair of the throttle had nothing to do with the new problem.  Could they have damaged the electronics of the ignition/starter while installing the new throttle mechanism?

Answer
Not likely.  None of the throttle body or intake components are anywhere near the starter.  Did the grinding noise occur while trying to start the car?  Probably was the starter and it was just a fluke that it happenned right after it was repaired for a different problem.

Good Luck,
Ryan
