Volkswagen Repair: Restarting Jetta After One Year of No Use, coolant level, vw owners

Question
I have a 1997 Jetta GT (2.0L) that was damaged in a one car accident in Sept. of 2002.  After half-heartedly attempting to sell the car as-is, I've decided to repair the car myself.  The damage is to the front passenger's side.  There is no emproachment into the engine bay and no visible sign that the engine was damaged at all.  The air bag was deployed on the driver's side.

My questions are, what steps do I need to take when attempting to restart the car to prevent any internal damage?  The engine has not been turned over since the accident.  Am I'm going to have difficulty starting the car with the air-bag deployed? (do I need to reset the computer?)

Answer
I am not familiar with the ins and outs of air bags cepting that I would'nt have one.  I canna see why that sould stop the motor from running.      You can only try.  Before you do anything, check for engine oil level, coolant level and battery charge and hoses are all still attached.
If all that is OK there is no reason why it shouldn't start except for these foolish attachments.(if someone had a braniac idea to shut off the motor once the air bag was deployed and had it wired into the key.)
If the motor cranks over and you have a spark at the plugs, it'll start just needs a bit of cranking.  If you are still having trouble go to web site www.vwvortex.com and pose question there It is a free site with vw owners
