How does one replace tailgate cylinders on 1967 850 wagon?

  Martin, they did not make a 1967 850 Wagon. I assume you meant a 1997? Slide the little clip off of each end of the rods where they attach and pry the rod off of the post. Use a large screwdriver and a block of wood to protect the paint. It seems like you are breaking them, but you are not. Be brave!
