Volvo Repair: v70 steering wheel removal, wheel hub, clock spring

there is a 'clanking sound' when the wheel is turned.i'd like to take the wheel off to investigate.

  Be extremely careful of the airbag squib/module. It can really hurt/maim you if it goes off while your holding a tool/impaler. Other than that it's simple. Just remove the cover and the squib. Mark the location of the wheel hub on the shaft. mark the clockspring, remove the nut, disconnect clockspring and remove the wheel If you mix up the orientation between the clockspring, wheel and shaft. You will ruin the closckspring and install your wheel off center.
 The noise is probably the clock spring breaking apart. HTH
