Volvo Repair: volvo dl 240, force tester, scan tool

Question
motor starts fine but diesels after approx 1 min than slowly dies, if i unplug the
ecu and reinstall starts fine than diesels agian, i can even quickly pop the plug in
and out and keep it going. any clues?

 Ian, don't do that anymore. Plugging and unlugging the ECU while running is a sure way to smoke that control unit. You will need some help with this one. A good independant will have a tool to interface that vehicle and determine what's wrong. An Auto-Force tester is ideal in my humble opinion. Not just a scan tool which will not reveal much. You want to look at in and out voltages and signals.
     O-wise, the dealer can do it, but usually expensive and sometimes they just guess and start with a new control unit to the tune of $900.00 plus.
